Potentially yes but only if the supplier you bought it from doesn't honour their legal responsibilities.coastertoaster said:If I paid for mobile phone handset sim free on my credit card if it became faulty could i claim under section 75? Is there a time limit on making a claim?1 -

S75 is not a coverall insurance policy.coastertoaster said:If I paid for mobile phone handset sim free on my credit card if it became faulty could i claim under section 75? Is there a time limit on making a claim?
S75 as a guide has a 6 year timeframe. Which will far outlast a i-phone in most cases.
Best bet buy direct from a apple shop or their online store.Life in the slow lane0 -
I always buy my iPhones direct from Apple (0% deal) and get the AppleCare+. That cover it for any breakdown and accidental damage for the first 2 years.0

I will be buying sim free direct from the apple store, not on 0% as one off payment and will get the apple care monthly.
Thanks for your responses0 -

That's incorrect and is a common misconception.
When S75 applies, the credit provider is both jointly and severally liable for any breach of contract so legally, the consumer is not required to approach the supplier first in order to attempt to get a resolution to their problem and they can go directly to the credit provider instead.
I know that in most cases it's far easier and quicker to attempt to get the problem sorted with the retailer but it's not the case that this must be tried first.0 -
They are all different... S75 deals with a breach of contract, such as they sold you a faulty phone, but banks dont have a load of phone engineers and so you will have to go through the process of commissioning an engineer report. S75 also doesnt cover theft or accidental damagecoastertoaster said:Thank you. Need to work out best way to buy iphone. What cover etc apple care, home insurance, credit card etc
Home insurance is the opposite, assuming you select the right coverages then AD and theft will be covered but not breakdown
AppleCare can cover breakdown and AD (think the + version has theft but not sure) however on a £1 per £1 covered its the most expensive0
