A person cold calls you purporting to be from a well known organisation. Maybe a phone network or retailer such as currys.

They sound convincing and offer to beat your current contract AND send you the latest model phone, ie something nice from samsung or whatever.

Put the phone down. Its a scam, they will sign you up for multiple phone contracts AND steal the phones that they have signed you up for.

Good advice, though it wouldn't catch me out as I have a no tolerance policy to cold callers and this one fits the usual MO for these type of scammers. Still worth highlighting though.
