Thanks for your helpful advice to date!DullGreyGuy said:These are points to put to your insurers, though they may decide to leverage their relationship and not make the deposit non-refundable.
You'd need to check the ombudsman's website about how much weight they give to if you like an item on deeming if its an appropriate replacement. I've come across disputes much more commonly when it comes to electronics where an insured is disputing that a LG TV is an appropriate replacement for a Sony simply on the grounds that they consider Sony to be a more premium brand but the ombudsman has ruled that the LG TV was an appropriate replacement (esp considering Sony OLED TVs use LG panels anyway)
As well as speaking to the store, I have also gone to their online website and spoken to an online chat sales agent on the proposed replacement. They have also confirmed to me that they don't stock this, and it cannot be ordered. I have captured the conversation transcripts emailed from Ernest & Jones, and have now gone back to the specialist acting on behalf of our insurer; advising them this information on the proposed replacement.
Hence, summarising this feedback from their nominated supplier and requesting that we simply get the full cash value without discount.
See what they say I guess?
I haven't bother to highlight appropriate replacements at this stage, to avoid muddling the waters....Have just highlight the direct feedback from their nominated suppliers..
