in Credit cards
Ive just been approved for a new Mint card i'd hoped to BT 3k from another card which runs out of its 0% in Feb 08 but they've only approved 1.3k provisionally (on-line application) Has anyone else done similar but got the limit increased when activating the card ? If not i might have to make another application for something else but i dont want to proliferate the plastic any more if i can help it ive already got 6 cards, 2 of them 'clean'

Do you mean clean as in there's nothing on the card?
If so then that will be showing up on your credit file as available credit, which could possibly one reason for you receiving a lower credit limit than expected. It could also just as likely be the credit crunch at the moment.
For the cards that you have a zero balance on... have you contacted them to see if they have any offers on BTs? If they don't have you considered closing them, waiting a while for your credit files to be updated and then applying for another card?0 -
I've just got a Mint card with only £1000 limit, which is a pain as I wanted to BT about £3000.
They've told me that I can ask them to review it in 3 months but of course by then I doubt they'll allow me to BT at the promotional rate. I've now closed an old card to reduce my available credit and plan to apply for another card in a month or two.0 -

Have you actually thought as to why you've been given a poor limit ?
6 cards says it all ! Why keep two cards you don't use ? By lowering the available credit you have, you stand a greater chance of getting higher limits.
Most card companies can offer limit increases upon card activation, but these are usually restricted to increases of approx 10-15%0
