What do I get a blender, or a new food mixer/blender

I'm a Kenwood fan - I have a Chef & a mini chopper on the worktop and the compact food processor, a bright pink hand mixer, a glass jug blender & a steel stick blender in a cupboard - the f/p was a swap for my older larger version, the hand mixer was a prize and the last 2 were liberated from my ex-husband's possession as he had broken the ones I had taken into the relationship by misuse / dropping them.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thanks for replying, Floss. I'm just beginning to 'unbox' it now and I'm at the stage where I'm looking but apprehensive about touching anything. I'm looking forward to becoming familiar with it and using it - it's a new experience for me because I've never had a Food Processor before.2

I have a very similar small Kenwood - probably an older version of the one on Amazon - which does get used a lot, but is dying now. I'm generally happy to do cakes, pastry & dough (the sort the breadmaker doesn't do) by hand but some years ago the girls (as in the DDs) begged for a processor and it has been well worth the space it takes up. It's especially good at shredding veg for a nut roast, which saves my fingers from the grater since my good mandolin slicer died. Mine came with a glass jug blender & a glass mill, which also get a lot of use - nut butter etc. in the mill, and dried eggshells to be powdered for The Girls (chickens!) and fruit in the blender for ice cream & sorbets - but I also have a Bamix hand blender, which was a gift, & is invaluable for soups & sauces because I can blend them in the saucepan. That also came with a mill, which is sometimes used for spices, and a creaming attachment which has yet to see the light of day as I'm happy using a rotary whisk.
I wonder if the new Kenwood has the same size gaskets & type of drive shaft as mine? I haven't been able to get spares for mine as bits have died, sadly, and now the main bowl is cracking, but the liquidiser & mill are still in fine shape. Off to see if I can find out!Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)3 -
Kenwood used to good for getting parts- I remember (years ago) getting small bits for something over 25 years old, but perhaps that service no longer exists?Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I was going to suggest a Braun stick - I used to have a very cheap version but it died and then I bought a Braun after lusting after one for some time. It was on special at John Lewis when I got it so was "only" £60. But that included the stick itself, a mixing jug, a storage mixing jug (with rubber seal top), a small chopper (to do nuts, breadcrumbs etc), a balloon whisk and an attachment to add to beaters. I think the current version is about £150 but they do more basic selection for about £20. I'd probably be happy with that now frankly - just the stick and jug.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Don't know if something has seized up or just needs more force. Reluctant to try too hard in case I break the grinder part. How do you switch between the two."
have you looked online to see if there are any instructions there?
Many instruction book available for various electrical items.
Worth a look

YorksLass said:littlemoney - According to my manual, it says the attachments (ie the blender and grinder) fit onto a collar on the top of the motor base. Push the attachment firmly on to the base and turn. (If you look underneath them, there are lugs that need to align onto the base.) It also says to hold the blender jug down firmly on to the base whilst in use. The lid of the grinder needs to have its "feet" slotted into position on its bowl to lock it into position.
If either attachment is allowed to ride up from the base or you undo the grinder lid, the motor will cut out, in which case you will need to switch off and start again.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the information. I will check with the machine in front of me to see if I can remove the grinder.
