In an attempt to be organised I have contacted Virgin Media to switch my services to my new address which will take place the day after completion.  I am an existing customer so hopefully no credit check.  However it will be classed as a new "contract" so maybe they would do a check?  Should I also be worried? :-\

I think unless you are on the very edge of affordability then you don't need to worry. It is quite normal to sort out stuff like house insurance and other household accounts ready to move in.

I know hence why i said the likely culprit was buying a new car and not the phone...
