What do you need to change?
The actual email address itself (create a new one) or some detail about the account?1 -

I'm trying to tidy everything up.
My Google account has started to default to an old address that includes a full stop within the part before the @.
This old address was previously replaced with the same address with out the full stop.
I cannot remember how I changed the default Google account mail address before.
This defaulting to the old "full stop" address is messing other stuff up.
"Google account" seems to have recently become so complicated with all the different settings and updates.
I've tried to explain as clearly as possible.
Thanks.0 -
If you go to https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/accounts what is the 'When replying to a message' set to?1

Link goes to "Google Work Space" then continues to "mail.google.com" site.
Page is headed "Settings" with several column titles.
High lighted column is set to the heading "Accounts and import".
Also in a superimposed black box labeled "Desktop notification for Gmail ".
I'm offered the choice to select, " OK - No thanks"
Any selection choice (OR COLUMN) "When replying to a message" is absent.
Thanks again.0 -
Further information which may help is.,
Column headings are., General, Labels, Inbox, Accounts and import,
Filters, Blocked Addresses.
I would imagine I need to get rid of the black Box by making a choice before I can start opening up other columns besides the Accounts and import.0 -
I'll try. You can't change your Google Id. If you created it as binao.smith@gmail.com then you are stuck with it.
When it comes to email addresses then all variations of binao.smith@gmail.com with zero, one or many periods in the part before the @ are valid and equivalent as email addresses (binaosmith@gmail.com = b.in.aos.mith@gmail.com).
Although they are all the same email address they may not be equivalent when used as user ids for other services, web sites etc.
I'm not aware that you can change the email address that shows when you send from your Gmail account, it will always be the original Id set up when the account was created.1
