Two week car insurance for Australian on a UK car we own

we have family visiting and wish to insure them for two weeks on our car.

we know it will be expensive but happy to pay for it

any recommendations you can suggest?

It may depend on which insurer you're with, but in the past I've had no problem in adding a temporary additional named driver to my policy for a week or two. Depending on the new driver's age, driving history etc., it's usually pretty reasonable.

Thanks, my existing insurer was my first port of call, they can’t do it

Add them to your existing policy as temporary additional drivers?
Otherwise look at the temp insurance providers

OK, in that case there are plenty of companies who offer short-term insurance. This may be a good starting place:

But if you Google for "Temporary Car Insurance" you'll find any number of options.

I assume your relatives have Australian driving licences? In my experience that may be an issue. It's some years ago now, but we had difficulty adding people with New Zealand licences to our car insurance. We had to find a company willing to insure them, and cancel our existing insurance.

Yes they have. Have a few quotes now, so will go ahead and bite the bullet. I had been googling but wondered if anyone had a top tip

It's probably also worth looking into whether they can just hire a car for the 2 weeks. They shouldn't have an issue doing that and it removes any liability from you.

Will they realistically need to drive much for the 2 weeks they are visiting?
