Brand new caravan lets in water - could anyone advise on our rights please?

It's now 6m old, so their right to reject outright has long gone (30 days). If the dealer offers that option, then fine, but they don't have to.shiraz99 said:
Why would they want to do that when they have the right to reject it. Get rid of it, as you have an opportunity, leaks in caravan are one of those things that are very hard to get rid off once they appear.macman said:Ask for a further repair under the manufacturer's warranty. What are the term of that warranty?
Under CRA 2015 you are much too late to reject outright now, that expires after 30 days. The retailer can repair, refund or replace-it's their choice, not yours, and obviously they will want to try to repair again. Probably just a faulty seal, hardly merits total rejection.
No full refund, the cost will be adjusted to reflect 6m of ownership. No free lunch, and no free laptop

You're wrong. The OP has a final right to reject because the dealer has used there one attempt at repair.macman said:

The dealer hasn't agreed to anything yet other to suggest the OP make the request. It makes perfect sense for him to be aware of his rights going forward.sheramber said:Since the dealer is agreeable to the op returning all discussion about rights or not are irrelevent.
We just spoke to the dealer who didn't seem surprised and said, 'Put it in writing if it's the rejection route you want to go down.'1 -
If anyone's interested, we got our money back from the dealer - a full refund - with a bit of help from Citizen's Advice who told us how to go about things. I'm really glad we pursued it.14

The caravan was a Swift Basecamp 4, 2022 model. Strangely enough, in the Basecamp group on Facebook yesterday someone posted a photo showing a leak in the same area as ours - on the front fascia board - and then a load of other people posted and said they'd had the same. Most people said it had been fixed under warranty. The dealer did try to fix ours but it didn't work. We didn't feel it was acceptable for a caravan to be leaking when it was so new, added to which there were so many other problems with it - screws always falling out for instance, a window frame coming loose, and many others - that we just felt it was really shoddy workmanship. We'd never have been able to relax in it so I'm glad we got our money back.knightstyle said:Please tell us the make, model and where the leak is so others can look out for this problem when buying.
I believe leaks in new caravans is much rarer now than 10 years ago as production methods have improved.0
