What is the best way to exchange cash when in Vietnam. We'll be taking £100 worth of VND with us

Take a fee free card like Starling and use ATMs? Unless you are spending all your time in remote areas. 

The spread seems particularly bad on VND... Post Office only offering 25.7k -v- Starling 29.4k

Looking at one of the VN banks they're offering 28.8k which is closer and then it may come down to the fees and amount you want to take out... ATMs charge between 22k and 55k for a withdraw depending on the bank.

Dont bother taking VND you can change in the airports at a perfectly good rate. Throughout Vietnam gold shops exchange cash including pounds for VND and they are often the best rates in town.....If you are landing / staying in Saigon there are two gold shops opposite the entrance to Benh Tanh market, very busy and safe.....  pre Covid they gave excellant rates.  Ony take pristine notes, I have found 20 pound notes are the best any less they are not so keen on them any higher and you might get stuck with them for a while.  Starling bank for using ATMs is my choice.

Or take US dollars which are accepted everywhere usually at a pretty good rate
