we had quite a lot of building work done this year so our usage is all over the place but just had a quick look at our sheet to compare.FreeBear said:Comparing bills from last year....Gas for Oct 2021, 245KWh, Oct 2022, just 11KWhFor Nov 2021, 615KWh, Nov 2022, on target for 250KWh (bill will be generated at the weekend).

looking at longer term numbers our 2021 average is about 130.71 kwh a month (about 4.4 a day). 2022 is about 122.88 kwh a month (about 4.1 a day)

averages are more difficult as our highest use month is normally jan and we've not had a jan where we've been cutting back yet (because we use no heating may - sept really should be comparing winter periods not calendar years)Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0 -
Just received the statement from octopus and looks like my calculations need to be adjusted slightly as gas last month had slightly less calorific value. I love to see those kW/h go down 😁1

There is really nothing better than keeping your own spreadsheet and making your own calculations. In my five bedroom detached house:Electricity32 days to 3 Nov 21: 264kWh £60.9730 days to 27 Oct 22: 265kWh £101.37Gas:33 days to 18 Nov 21: 1402kWh £49.1031 days to 7 Nov 22: 874kWh £98.66No changes to any heating settings, but 2 spare bedrooms closed off and not heated. My spreadsheet started in 1983, covers 39 years of energy consumption and payments.1

Wow that's a lot of data. Is that all for the same property? I've moved into this house just 14 months ago, but the spreadsheet goes back 2.5 years. I also still have all the bills from various rental places since 2009, so one day would be interesting to go though and see how much gas was used in the draughty Victorian flat with single glazed windows. I remember having the heating on almost constantly.jbuchanangb said:There is really nothing better than keeping your own spreadsheet and making your own calculations. My spreadsheet started in 1983, covers 39 years of energy consumption and payments.0 -
From 1983 to 2018 all at same property. Most recent 4 years at my current place.
