Daily overdraft charges

Hi everyone
ca\n someone please advise me if you ever tried claiming back charges for an ARRANGED overdraft? i've been living in my overdraft for years. and for years i have been paying charges. The struggle is real at the moment. I never get out of my overdraft. I get charged £1.60 daily which works out nearly £50 a month. I'm at the moment so down about the cost of living it's mentally affecting me. I have to do something as i cannot live like this no longer. I get paid monthly. From about middle of the month i struggle and have to borrow money from family to survive. I currently have 67p available until i get paid at the end of the month but that doesn't last long. I've had enough, I literally have no money to buy fresh bread and milk. So i am just trying to look online on ways to maximize income, reduce outgoings etc and one of them is the bank charges which are ridiculous Is it possible to claim them back? All i can find is that you can claim the charges for UNAARANGED overdraft but nothing on arranged. I am in financial hardship. I will never forget when years and years ago i went to my bank to let them know my situation and all they did was offered me the overdraft which is 1500. Ever since i regretted getting it as i've been basically in the red for about 10 years or more now. Not to mention other debts i have which i am unable to pay. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you

  • You cannot claim charges for any bank accounts, the banks won the supreme court case in 2009

You need to ask them for a financial hardship case - if they don't get told, they won't offer it. They will usually freeze interest / charges or even sometimes refund a few months of charges and help you get out of the cycle of charges and so on.
