Tesco Delivery slots

On a more positive note, slots do sometimes become available again nearer to Christmas as people reserve them early and then change their minds. So it may be worth keeping an eye out in case.1

Well, they've clearly misjudged it in my area then, if I'm able to have my pick of slots! I know they take on a lot of Christmas temps, maybe they'll move a few unneeded vans from my area to areas where they have no availability. I know they massively increased their fleet during covid, as they were the only supermarket taking new customers.pumpkin89 said:
They haven't misjudged it - they knew the slots would sell out really quickly, hence the extensive communication about when they would be released. The reality is that demand is much higher in Christmas week: more people want to buy online because they're busy doing other things and/or they don't want to go to the supermarkets when they're heaving; orders are bigger so fewer customers' shopping can be fitted in a van. But it wouldn't be profitable for Tesco to maintain a fleet of extra vans to be used one week a year.Mnoee said:No use to you, but hopefully help put your mind to rest about conspiracies - they've just misjudged the demand for slots in your area, so they're all gone very quickly.
Whatever their intentions are, some areas still have plenty to choose from and some are totally sold out.

Have you booked for the 18th or 19th? The vast majority of things will last till Christmas and the longer you delay the more likely those dates will disappear too, and as Pumpkin says, keep your eye out for slots opening. I remember seeing one time, several slots appearing suddenly as if they'd done some shuffling round of vans or something. I don't remember if it was Tesco or Waitrose, but you never know what might appear.1

tip 1. Could you go 2 or 3 days without a delivery - i.e. wk1 Monday, wk2 Wednesday, wk3 Friday, wk5 Monday = 3 deliveries in each 4 week period.
tip 2. Stock up on 'cupboard' items once a month, to clear £50 delivery charge limit on that delivery.-2
