Asda Credit card aka jaja finance

Hi all

i have had a Asda card for 3 months now, pay it in full every month and also repay mid month too! they took a dd payment today for the full outstanding amount £398 today and have frozen my acount!, they are refusing to tell me why on the phone and said they will be in touch!... i still have access to my app and online account and shows available to spend so on.

Late afternoon i had a call from them and said my account is good to go now!.... tried to use my card to buy something online for £12... declined. Phoned them back up and said my account is under review still!

im so confused why this is happening and they wont speak to me about it!

Any advise?

My credit score is crap and im quite surprised i got one in the first place hence why i make extra effot to pay it in full even before due date so on!

Paul

Why are you paying mid month and also paying in full with direct debit..it's probably.makimg.you go over the credit limit as you paying off more than you need.

You'll have to either wait for them to come back to you - or give them another call - with what little you know (and we know from what you've posted) I don't think anyone here will have any firm answers for you. If you do manage to resolve it - I would certainly recommend letting the direct debit take the full payment monthly, and not do 'top-up' payments as you go along. Are you going near your credit limit and then paying it off - and then spending again before the statement is produced?
  • They are not allowed to tell you why they froze your account.
Always wait for the monthly statement, only then pay. Or don't pay anything manually, simply leave it for the direct debit.

That's potentially an issue. I haven't experienced it myself - but have read on these forums that with some providers, your limit is your limit in a monthly billing cycle. So if you had say a £400 limit, spent £400 - then paid it off immediately and then went out and spent another £400 - you'd have effectively used £800 of credit in that billing cycle, when they only authorised you to use £400. I'm sure someone that's experienced it might be able to shed a bit more light on it - but that does seem possible.

Do you NEED to use it so often? Or are you trying to spend and pay off to 'look more attractive' financially?

If you get it all resolved - I'd hold off spending more than the limit between statement dates, and just let the direct debit take the payment in full. Try to keep it simple and not overcomplicate it :)

Hopefully it'll become clearer in the next day or two. (Come back and let us know if you get it resolved).

Unfortunately by paying the way you are doing, you are not making yourself look more attractive as your statements may be low or even zero value. You need to spend on the card and then pay in full after the statement date, preferably by direct debit to ensure you never miss a payment. Spending and paying off weekly just looks unusual and doesn't show on your credit record - all that shows is a statement balance and if the balance is paid in full
