Hi i need some advice
i ordered a sofa online from DFS and was accepted for finance. I signed the finance agreement last Monday 7 days ago. However after visiting one of their stores the sofa wasn’t what I expected and I saw a much more expensive sofa both me and my partner preferred.

I have asked dfs if they would amend the order and I would pay cash for the price difference however I was told that once an order has been placed this cannot be amended. I asked them what options I had and they basically said none!
I asked if I could cancel my order but I have been told since this has been paid using finance I cannot cancel the order.
My order is not due to be delivered until 11th February 2023.
I asked about a cooling off period and was told that no such thing exists with finance - so basically I’ve been told I cannot amend my order to a different sofa and I’m now also unable to cancel the order or finance - is this correct?

I think the two are separate, you have the finance which should come with a 14 day cooling off period IIRC.
Secondly you have an order for goods, if you ordered online (and just picked options from a drop down menu for any variations in colour for example) then you have the right to cancel the contact for the goods as well.It should be noted cancelling the finance won’t automatically cancel the order for the sofa.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1 -
If you ordered it online you should have a statutory right of cancellation of the order itself assuming you didnt go instore at any point in the process... what grounds are they saying you dont? Presumably the "personalisation"?
Finance, in store or online, always has a cooling off period but that just means you have to pay for the sofa in full if you cancel it.1
