Charity gifts for Christmas

Options
For several years I have made a lot of effort to buy thoughtful gifts for my brother's children. I no longer get any  acknowledgement and have no idea if they are well received.  My brother is wealthy and the kids get everything they want from him and his wife and her family. This year I would rather give money to charity on their behalf but I want them to know I have done that so they don't think i am just not buying gifts. Can you recommend any good sites please?

I think GoodGifts has quite a good range: https://www.goodgifts.org/

The other one I know of is Oxfam Unwrapped: https://onlineshop.oxfam.org.uk/unwrapped/category/oxfam-unwrapped

I think you get a card to send to the recipient.

If you know of their interests, it may be possible to tailor them, eg if there's one who likes animals then goats or chickens might be appreciated.

I know we've also got a tree in the National Forest: https://www.nationalforest.org/get-involved/plant-a-tree/dedicate-a-tree but I'm not sure you can actually find 'your' tree ...

Local Zoos and animal parks may allow you to adopt animals as well, again one of our local places you would pay sponsorship and then get some visits as well - if you ever visit might a trip out be fun?

Look up richest charities and see what insane remuneration the top people in them get,

The largest 10 richest charities are worth more than £66bn altogether, which accounts for almost 14% of the entire sector’s wealth, according to an analysis of new Charity Commission figures.

When I give to charity I want the money to go to help someone not stick it in a bank and pay top wages.

I tend to give to local so I know where its going and to who

Reminds me of a lady my other half knew whose grandchildren never visited her but expected money at Christmas so one year she sent them cheques but did not sign them.  They visited rather sharpish to get them signed.  :)
