Frankly I'd be asking for money back.  Maybe you can't get much interest on a savings account but if it keeps you from maxing on a credit card and paying 25% on a balance that is a definite win.

That's it exactly. The future DD amount should take into account the credit balance, assuming the OP stays with the same supplier. If they choose to switch suppliers then the credit will be refunded without any interest it could have earned elsewhere.
