Water Damage to Wall and Insurance Claim

[Deleted User] said:It’s madness that you now can’t phone an insurance company for advice without it being seen as making a claim. Surely that’s a money making thing if they raise your premiums just for enquiries.
If honesty was wider the impacts on premiums would be different1 -
@Bendy_House, we are on good terms and I'm sure he'll sort it out. It's just frustrating as it was pouring with heavy rain for the previous two days and I have someone very ill sleeping in that room with the mould and nowhere else for them to go for various reasons. I have cleaned it off as best I can do. We are in a very difficult situation with loads of things at the moment and it's just another problem to deal with!
The drainpipe used to be shared but neighbour claimed it about 20 years ago by fencing it off his side and attaching a batten to our house wall. I am quite willing to get someone to unblock it, put a leaf guard in and pay for it. I used to have a relative who would regularly climb up and unblock it from the top but that is no longer the case. It's just my first instinct was to ring the insurance to sort out repairing the damage to the house interior as I thought it may have damaged plaster etc. I read that you have to notify them within 2 days etc etc.1 -
Just not worth an insurance call, I don't think, Chloe. Also, the other mould issue would appear to be unrelated.Very good of you to consider cleaning this gutter for them. Hopefully it won't be needed.Meanwhile, kill that mould...There shouldn't be any mould from this gutter leak, as it's very recent - mould usually takes quite a while of repeated damp to grow.1
