We fixed an extra piece of wood onto the front of each window sill so that they are wider - the curtains fall to the sill and the extra width pushes the heat from the radiator out into the room.RainbowsInTheSpray said:

We have thermal blackout roller blinds in a couple of SE facing rooms (main bedroom and lounge). They aren't the snug fitting type mentioned, and are recessed but have a tiny gap at each side. They certainly keep the light out despite the side gaps, and hopefully keep a decent amount of heat in.Honesty is the best poverty.1
