Christmas Bonus

Hello. I wondered if the Christmas £10 is still happening? I did not get it last year even though I have PIP and contribution based ESA so I thought that because I have 2 of the benefits and Child tax credits I am not allowed it. Is this correct? I am asking because money is, like for everyone, a bit tight and the Christmas extra would be very appreciated - I understand if I am not allowed. I am just a bit confused. Thank you

It's not always paid as a separate payment, sometimes they add it onto your exisiting benefit, this happened to me the last 2 years. As it's such a small amount, it's easy to miss when they do this.

You should have had it added to your ESA and, if paid with your benefit, it's usually paid around the first or second week in December.

Thank you to all of you. I did not realise it is added to existing benefit sometimes so I expect that is what happened. I have had PIP for a long time and when working used to get a letter saying about the Christmas bonus but since Contribution based Esa have had not seen a separate payment or had a letter. Thanks again.0

PIP normally pay the Christmas Bonus as a separate payment but in my experience ESA usually add it on to your fortnightly payment. In the list of which benefits attract the Christmas Bonus, both ESA (contributory) and PIP are included but ESA takes priority above PIP so your payment should come from that benefit office.1

Hi, they add it to your benefit which for me is usually the first Monday in December.
I just looked through my bank statement. I claim carer's allowance and last year on Monday 6th December they credit £77.60 to my account (it's usually £67.60) just check your bank in early December 🙂1
