    The bolt/stud could be tightened past it's yield point too.
    You have a Toyota Yaris?Specifying a torque range from 100Nm to 150Nm is ridiculous. Thereabouts?Please advise which manufacturer recommends that?
    Toyota specify 103Nm.

    Tightened my focus wheel nuts to 90nms as per manual and they came undone and started knocking.  I was relieved to find it was not the drive shaft

    I don't have a yaris any more no.
    I got my wheel nut specs from E3 technical

    It says 108 to 147nm to be precise 

    Did some googling and some manufacturers specify a minimum, optimum and a maximum torque as someone else said in this thread 

    I'm nor advocating overtightening, I'm fairly new to motoring and willing to learn, hence the question.

    Also is it likely that experienced qualified mechanics would overtighten when they work with cars day in day out ?
