I would like to open a HSBC savings 3% interest account, but I don't have a current account. Can I open a current account with HSBC and then immediately open the savings account or do I have to wait a certain amount of time?

"Here's a trick, the terms say you can get this account whether you've got a current account or a saving's account. Well it's flex savings account allows you to open it with £1"

Whilst it might perhaps be possible to open Flex Saver, and subsequently on OBS, without having an HSBC current account, you cannot transfer any money from either the Flex Saver or the OBS out of HSBC without an HSBC current account.
To answer the OP's question: once your application for the HSBC current account has been successful, you also need to register for online access because you need to be logged into online banking to apply for the OBS1 -

I had a savings account (having switched out a current account) and online access and opened a Bonus Saver. I then found that I could not transfer any money out.
I had to open a new current account but that took several days. I believe that this delay would be your main problem.0 -
I've no idea if they have improved now or not, but opening an HSBC account was a prolonged and complicated process when I did it.
Measured in weeks rather than days, the most complicated bank account opening I've had.1 -

My husband and I have a joint account with HSBC with different log ins. I have opened an Online Bonus Saver account in my name on my log in Page. Is my husband able to open an Online Bonus Saver account in his name on his log in Page? Or are we only allowed one OBS account on our account number?0
