Ford Service Price

Last year my wife had her Fiesta service and MOT - the total price (inc VAT) was £291.85.

This year, she phoned to book in the service and MOT and in the call was advised she should also have brake fluid done as well.  My wife also requested new remote batteries.  She was quoted £304.17 so she agreed to go ahead.

The service was undertaken this morning and, on payment, the total came to £497.06.
We protested, referencing the quoted price.  The person on duty gave an explanation that the quoted price was just the service, the MOT, brake fluid and batteries were all extra, then add VAT.
Given that the car would not be released unless we paid, we were held to ransom and had no option.

Is this this one we just need to chalk up to experience?

You got well and truly FXXXED.
I would call and ask for a manager.

Brake fluid change at a dealer £60- £80.
    This dealer is £49.99. https://www.hillsford.co.uk/servicing-parts-offers/brake-fluid-change/
2 key fob batteries £20 rip off price.
    Still £100 over priced.

A service plan is the best option if available.
My Peugeot 5008 was £830 for the first 5 years. Through PSA.
Oil, filter, pollen filters, air filter, fuel filter, brake fluid changes and adblue included. Everything except Mot’s.
Started service plan for years 6-10 £14.99 a month, £900 in total. With Emac. Still at Peugeot main dealer.

Put your reg in here for quote.

Last year I needed a cr2032 fob battery.  Cost me £1 for 4.

    Just to update on this.

The garage just called my wife and said they will make a partial refund - it has to be approved by the Manager but they will call again in the week to confirm how much and how it will be refunded.

We complained when collecting the car but had not yet gone back with a follow up, do I guess that is good so far.

Didn't it seem too cheap at the start? £13 for brake fluid change MOT and fob batteries would be outstanding value.
  • My Ford is going in for a major service this time, they quoted me £285 for a service, with MOT would be £340. Last time I had the break fluid done was £40 but that might have been 2 years ago?

Key fobs we do ourselves and batteries are less than £1 each.

    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...

    No.
Last year, phoned up for service and MOT, did what was suggested, the price came out around £300 - that was the extent of the detail that we remembered.

This year, phoned up for service and MOT, agreed to what was suggested, the price quoted around £300 again, so it seemed acceptable.

It was only after the issue at payment time that we then looked up the paperwork from last year.  It turned out they changed the key-fob batteries last year as well so no idea why they needed doing again.

Anyway, hopefully the garage will come good following their call today that they will arrange a partial refund.

Unless you are a business, they need to quote including Vat. That would be a dealer I'd avoid in the future if there were other options. If still not happy, and it's a large dealer group, maybe contact their head office?
Key batteries is a nice little earner for them - my dealer caught me out on this but at least only charged me for the batteries - they shouldn't charge labour whilst it's in for a service
  • Contacted Peugeot customer service with an issue with one of their dealers.
Its taken a month or so but I won.
The dealer was useless, Customer service were great.
I got a credit note from Peugeot to use at any main dealer.
For a service, parts or Mot’s etc. As a good will gesture.
