Capabilities of NAT WEST 0% BT for 22 months 0BT fee.

Options
Does anyone know if I can do a balance transfer from my partners credit card (non nat west cc) to my new natwest 0% BT CC for 22mnth, 0 BTfee, without incurring any fees. So different name on partners cc, their sole name on card,  and my BT cc is in my sole name as well. Is there anything I need to be wary of, if this is possible?

For the majority of cards this is possible. Just try, you have nothing to lose.

thought if I did try as you suggest, then I may incur a penalty or need to pay a fee, seeing that it's from someone elses c.c. to my BT transfer c.c.

Check the terms and conditions you signed up to.
I'm with RBS (same group) and in the T&Cs under the section about Card Transfers it says:

"You and any additional cardholder may make Money Transfers and Balance Transfers.
    ...
Please make sure that you provide us with correct details for the other account, including the credit card number for a Balance Transfer and the account number and sort code for a Money Transfer."

I'm no expert but that seems to me to say that if your partner is an additional cardholder then yes it could be possible.

    Mobile app

To make a balance transfer via the mobile app, select the credit card you wish to Balance Transfer to then click on "Balance Transfer" and follow the on screen instructions.

Just give them the details that they ask and see what happens. I don't have an app and cannot check what details they want. And one cannot do this on a PC.
That said, it's easy to add your partner as a second cardholder and this can possibly help as glennevis suggested.

I appreciate if partner was an additional card holder that this means it's ok to do, as to me that is clear in T&C. As they are not an additional card holder and I don't want them to be, can I still do? If their long card number  is all that is needed and the amount which is what I did in order to BT from my other cc's then maybe it is possible. But didn't want to be surprised with a charge.

There can be no any charge. They either allow the BT or not. Don't overcomplicate simple things.

Has anyone else done this with NatWest BT credit card and been successful? Please let me know, so I can proceed with BT from partners cc to my own NatWest BT cc.
  • You’ve had all the advice you’re going to get. Try it or don’t.
  • When I have done BTs all I have ever been asked is the 16 digit number and the value to transfer, I'm sure the terms say that it should be your own card or similar but I have never directly been asked. As it means you are taking on someone else's debt it's your risk though

Anecdotally, if you do the transfer online rather than over the phone, there's no problem.  There probably won't be an issue even if you do do it over the phone, but if you can do it online then that's the simplest way.
You do need to appreciate, as highlighted by Farfetch, that the debt then becomes solely your responsibility, and it's your credit history that will be impacted if there are any late payments or whatever.  This may or may not be an issue for you, but you need to understand that this is the case.
