Thanks everybody for your input and replies. I thought I would provide an update. I did reply to them quoting Consumer Rights Act 2015 and without issue they agreed the return, with apology, and I received a full refund for the cost of the item. They did quote that they don't accept returns of open boxes, but in this case, accepted what I had told them and said it was unacceptable of them to have sent an open unpacked box in the first place and will follow up with an internal investigation for the mishap. All in all, that's a win. Thanks everybody.
