Debit card chargeback claim

I have applied to my visa debit card provider for a chargeback re a company I have paid for a direct cremation when I die. The company is now in administration and o have read on the visa debit card rules that in the case of company in administration a claim must be placed within 120 days of knowing there is the problem. The bank however have  denied the clame saying it must be made 540 days from date of purrchase.

Has anyone else made a chargeback claim when a company has gone into administration and been succesful? I am hoping the bank is wrong.

When did you make the purchase?

There is an overall cap on the timing from the date of the transaction

    That is correct.
It is a max of 540 days from the date of the payment. That is Visa/Mastercard timescale set by themselves.

So sadly you are out of time. So you would have to register as a creditor, or hope that someone takes over their userbase.

The fact a company ceases trading does not stop chargebacks, the claims are paid out by their merchant bank. How they get it back is their problem.

    Sure?
There are time limits for making chargeback claims. These depend on your card provider, so it’s best to contact them to get the details you need. Your card provider will also tell you what evidence you may need to provide to support your chargeback claim.

Positive. 540 days from date of debit is the max. 👍
Only future dated events can extend the 120 days (hence the above statement) But none can be actioned after 540 days. Their (V & M) system simply won't allow it.
Banks can not set their own regulations or timescales on Visa/Mastercard cards to claim money back. They can make a exception, but that will come out of their own pockets. Does not happen very often.
