Hi.

I was wondering if anyone can help regarding a payment I sent to an old Asda Money credit card account that was closed in July 2020 when the scheme ended.

The card was issued by Creation.  I have since opened a new one with Jaja Finance.

I didn't realise I had not deleted the old bill payment from internet banking and sent £100 to them last month, it just showed as ASDA MONEY CREDIT CARD on my payments screen.  It has went to a sort code and account number belonging to HSBC Bank with my old card number as the reference.

I called Creation and they said the account number is invalid.  He told me to send an email to [email protected] and the holding email said they will respond within 5 days.  It's been a fortnight and I have not heard back.

Does anyone know if I am likely to get this money back?  I had hoped it would be reversed and go back into my bank account but nothing.

Many thanks for any advice.

Have you tried calling your bank and asking them if there's anything they can do?

If the account number genuinely does not exist the payment should be returned, but sometimes these things end up sitting in a holding account.

If you're not satisfied with Creation's response then you can also raise a complaint about that. Creation aren't known for being wonderfully responsive sadly but if they are genuinely holding the money then you will be able to get it back this way.

Hi, thanks for reply - yes Creation are pretty poor - 45 minutes wait to be told to email instead.  I hadn't thought to ring bank, will try that.
  • It will be stuck in a holding account at the receiver, might be better to email with all the details of the payment and ask for it to be returned though your bank may be able to pull it back (probably not though)
