In Australia they call them jaffle irons. You can even get a really cool (excuse the pun) one which you can hold into an open fire.Delicious! (As long as there's no minging cheese in it.)0

Had a sandwich toaster here for a while. It got used for a few months, and then got shoved to one side due to the faff and cleaning. Eventually chucked it out for recycling.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Yes - we've had those in the past and they are a nightmare to clean
Have you tried the microwave versions ?
we have one now, they are much more practical and do make a very good sandwich and would make a better gift since take up a lot less space
Very easy to clean too
Only downside it makes 1/2 as much as the normal electric ones do per go

I’ve got one of those and it does work well. Only problem is that after a handful of uses, the silicone has already started to split.bob_a_builder said:Yes - we've had those in the past and they are a nightmare to clean

Yes, our toastie maker is a non-electric one which we simply use on the stove top. Also works really well on the woodburner or on a barbecue. When we get power cuts, its toastie time!Risteard said:In Australia they call them jaffle irons. You can even get a really cool (excuse the pun) one which you can hold into an open fire.Delicious! Ok - I did wonder about all that extra silicon - I have the Mark 1 version - which seems to be a better design thenMoney_Grabber13579 said:
