Average Daily Energy cost - Smart Meters
Hey everyone,
So I had my smart meter fitted yesterday from Octopus!
I'm just curious to know peoples daily energy costs, appreciate there's multiple factors in play here, but just wanted a rough comparison to understand if my usage is average or on the high side!
For context, there's 2 of us who live in a 3 bed detached bungalow who work from home, we have gas and electric to the property
Thanks in advance

Get used to thinking about usage in kWh, not in £. Find out where your display shows usage in kWh. This means everything you learn will still be the same when prices change.

That's the range of people's annual usage ('Current' is 2017, 'Revised' is 2020). You'll be Profile Class 1 for electricity.
Electricity is relatively flat, so multiply your daily use by 365 to see where you fit.
Gas is much more difficult, as it changes seasonally.
This is how the "Medium" level of the first table breaks down per month. This shows you the seasonal curve.4 -
Your costs will be the same today irrespective of whether you have a smart or analogue meter.mz1992 said:Hey everyone,

In truth, you will become fixated on the IHD and each time you see the red sector you will turn things off.
Your statement should show your estimated annual usage for gas and electricity. These figures are what you should be comparing with the national averages - not what is showing on your smart meter after one day.3 -
Currently running at about 5.5KHw per day on electricity, zero on gas. Still fairly mild in these parts and haven't needed to fire up the heating.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
