Completing on purchase and sale when working away.

Hello,

Hopefully this is nothing to worry about but I just want to make sure that I have everything covered and have not missed anything out. So, I will most likely be working away at the time my house sale and onward purchase is due to complete. I will not have any means of communication, no email or phone. My solicitor is away of this and my partner also has a legal power of attorney.

So long as all the paperwork (contract, transfer, mortgage deed) is signed before hand, is there anything else that I need to make sure is in place? The property that I’m selling will be paying for the deposit for the onward purchase. Does the money get sent straight to my solicitor or does it get sent to my bank account? Because if it is sent out my account, I won’t be able to send it on.

I am mostly worried about exchanging contracts and then for any reason if I am need to be contacted, from the lender, etc. Hopefully this is all dealt with by my solicitor and I have nothing to worry about, as I’m sure people are selling houses all the time whilst working away. Although they are giving me vibes that its quite a strange situation to them and they are not giving me great confidence. My situation is a little unique though as I don’t have any means of communication or internet access.

Thanks for any help.

As long as there is a legal power of attorney in place, it will be fine.

The money from your sale goes to your solicitor, so you don't need to move money.

You have a partner.  They will be able to cope without you through the process.  Things don't always run smoothly, but you've the other half of 'Team Troy' to make any decisions in your absence.
