TSB Spend & Saver £5 using debit card

Do most people use their debit card to fund  a savings account to get 30 or more uses of their debit card. Even if I used the debit card instead of my credit card I rarely do more than half a dozen or so purchases a month on it. Also does funding a savings account count as using the debit card at least once to qualify for the switching offer which I have now completed. I would assume it does.

I used to do that, along with switching to Spend & Save Plus and back every 6 months but I can't be bothered with it any more. I'm doing £1 daily topups to Amazon to fulfill the £5 reward and switch requirements, but I'll stop after 6 months I think.

It's a shame there's no savings account where such things can be automated but understandable when you consider how much debit card fees will eat in to the amount the bank or building society actually receives, particularly on small transactions.

Is the Amazon doing top ups to your gift card balance?

I make 30 £1 deposits into my NS&I account each month, usually in one sitting. I can usually get them all done within 10-15 mins so works out to the equivalent of £20-£30 per hour.

    confused here!

I assume you are not referring to the new TSB switching deal?
That only needs x 5 debit card transactions per month (as well as the 2 xDD s & £500 minimum monthly funding) to earn the extra £55

    or am I missing something?

No. I am referring to the 30 debit card transactions per month you need to make if you want to get the £5 cashback on the spend & save account. This has been ongoing long before TSB launched their recent switching deal. See:

    Ah, thanks for that
I'm thinking that I would struggle with even 5 per month (particularly if I am abroad!)

I do my usual spending on my CC, then use my TSB debit card to pay off the statement balance with multiple £1 transactions. Has worked for years through all the various TSB promos.

I've considered doing this. Are you not concerned that your credit card issuer might object to it? It'll cost them a few pence each time at least. I guess it's a non-issue if you've been doing this so long.
