Worth getting a new boiler?

You can try one of the trusted trader type sites to get quotes, four years ago I had a new combi supplied and fitted for £1250 in Torbay, the boiler was less than half that. It did include about 3m of 28mm pipe from the meter to the boiler and a couple of metres of copper pipe to join into the existing circuit (I removed the old boiler, hot water tank, etc myself). I think the highest quote was £3700. It was a full day's work to fit it - the key is to go for the one man operations rather than pay huge overheads of the bigger co's. When I was living in Swindon the guys on the site were running a sort of cartel, quoting London prices, so some care needed. You can check the engineer out on the gas safe site, they have their photos to stop ID theft. No problems so far. I reckon it is at least half the cost of running the ancient system that it replaced but have yet to turn it back on this year due to gas costs more than doubling. Morning temp was zero degrees, BTW.
If you figure on six years life plus servicing that is £250 a year plus £100 standing charge, so £350 in fixed costs. After that gas is going be so expensive that it will not be viable, I reckon, and you may as well as cap the supply and put the money towards the electric bill.0
