Caravan park Energy Payment

Hi. Just wondering if anyone knows when caravan/park homes will be given the £400 energy payment?
I've rang local council who couldn't help but sent me a government link. I did see a payment would be given but with no dates stated.
We have 3 metres attached to each mobile home, gas, electric & water. The metres are read quarterly & bills issued. I pay the the site owners by standing  order each month but some residents pay their bills quarterly. We've had no correspondence whatsoever from anyone advising if prices will rise etc. We're very much in the dark. Articles I read, advise to contact the energy supplier but we don't know who that is! Any help or information would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • There isn’t anything other than “we think will help people in your circumstance somehow“.

     No details, no dates.

This question gets asked every two or three days, so we know there are many people waiting to hear.

That won't help - the owner will be on a business tariff and they are unpublished. The units  and standing charge can vary enormously . Last Jan my Elec unit was 55p

This is a matter between you and the site owner.

As others have said there will be support for users like yourself but how on earth is the government going to know how many of you are out there - how would they know who resells electricity and to how many  the HMO's, flats over shops, houseboats in marinas,  ...................... It's a minefield.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • Thanks for the reply. It is a minefield. We've had the £150 payment through the council tax payments earlier this year so maybe the government could take the same route for the £400 energy payment.
  • I can't see them looking for "properties who pay council tax but who didn't get the EBSS through electricity supply but who also aren't the people who shouldn't have been eligible anyway"

Unfortunately a considerable number of the people who have posted about this issue previously, don't pay Council Tax because either they live on a boat or in a "holiday" park or some other reason !
Personally I suspect that political expediency will see this kicked into the (very) long grass after today's Autumn statement.

    1. this is on Naphr's website
    2. How will park home residents receive this support?
    • The £400 support will not be delivered to park home residents through site owners.
    • It will be delivered by a designated body. An announcement on this will be made in due course
    • This is on the Government website

Those households not on standard gas or electricity contracts, such as those living in park homes or on heat networks – and so outside the scheme – will receive support equivalent to both the Energy Price Guarantee and the Energy Bills Support Scheme.

The business which has the direct commercial relationship with the energy supplier (for example the park owner) will receive support via the Energy Bill Relief Scheme and we will act now to introduce legislation so that they have to pass the benefit directly on to residents. Customers do not need to take any action in order to receive this support, which they will receive by the end of the year.

    • If you’re not connected to the grid
    •  So who is right ?

The "announcement in due course" hasn't happened and the legislation about the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (which is not the £400) didn't actually change anything.

Don't worry, we are keeping up with the news about these things - we know many people are interested.

this seems to be taking an age to sort out, our electricity has just increased almost double and we heard today the gas bottles are going  up from £54 to £79, that is quite a hike.

It was raised today at Prime Minister's Questions - not sure whether that's going to accelerate matters however!
  • The problem is that there is no easy solution to the issue, if there was it would have already been implemented. It is even more complicated by the large number of people who appear to be living full time in holiday/non-residential parks who will likely not be eligible even if/when the general process is worked out. I suspect that this may well be passed over to local councils to handle via a system of discretionary payments, however those attempting to claim for holiday/non-residential parks may well find that they end up with far bigger problems if they are trying to claim the site as their primary residence (breach of planning for the site and/or a large Council Tax liability).
