Can you tax your car online with an AMEX card?

I want to use AMEX to maximise points but I can't test it for myself as I don't have the new keeper ref yet.

    Jeez you struggle to pay VED online with any card.  I had to try 3 cards before it agreed with me that all the details were correct.

    "Card number is incorrect for this type of card" was the rough message a kept getting.

    Fairly sure you can do via the Post Office, not sure about online.

    I recently bought my road tax online using Amex for 2 diff cars - once in Oct and once in Sept - both went through no probs
