AMEX GOLD

Hm, I am not sure I actually saw it explicitly stated when applying. Maybe the link was expired
I only looked for one because I saw a comment about the extra referral points here, and grabbed the first one I found. It shall be a pleasant surprise if I get the whole 32,000 points. 0 -
Hope it's OK to continue using this thread
I have now received my 30K (with the additional 2K for referral!) rewards points.
I can see them added in my AMEX app once the 3K spend was reached. However I can also see another message, telling me I'll get 20K welcome bonus if I spend what looks like another 3K by end of January (which, strictly speaking, was the original deadline for the 3K spend/30K points too).
Do we think that's a bug in the app or would I really be eligible for TWO welcome bonuses so shortly after??
I know they reduced the promo to 20K shortly after I signed up, but surely they aren't giving this many extra points to new clients...

Well, this is somewhat unexpected - AMEX did actually pay out the additional 20K points, so I got a total of 50K "welcome bonus" points for spending 6K in the first three months

I am still feeling a bit uneasy about it though... I called them last week and asked whether this was genuine, since I kept seeing the message about the additional welcome bonus, and the necessary spend was counting down. CS person I spoke to opened a case and did call back after my initial call and said it's probably a technical glitch since they don't normally do two welcome bonuses. However, the message was still there a week later and now I reached the spend and got the points added automatically.
I have already converted the first bonus and other points I got to Avios and then to Nectar (well, in the process of doing that, the Nectar part apparently takes up to 10 days) I am thinking that as soon as possible, I will do the same with these 20,000 points. I feel like I gave American Express a chance to check whether this was a correct offer and even if it wasn't, it wasn't something they were keen to fix or prevent as a priority, so I got the additional reward.
I don't see how they could come at me and demand the points back if I manage to convert them away?0
