Your cat had a good and long life, that's all we can ask for. Ours was also around 19/20 when the time came. It was sad at the time, and it was hard for a very long time afterwards.  20 years is a long time to have someone constant in your life.  Not many human relationships last this long.
The way I look at it, she was happy and 'maxed' her time with you, same as ours did with us.
    Hugs.

Sorry to hear that but , of course it was the right thing to do

20 years is a long time to have pet, so now that's a huge hole in your life / heart

Thinking of you, hope you have some thoughtful friends & family where you can sob away.

    remember all the good times

    Take care

  • So sorry for your loss.

Having lost my two oldies last autumn within 6 weeks of each other, I can really empathise. Mine were both just short of 18 years old and we'd been through so much of life together. Several house moves, big life events and changes - they had been constant throughout and had been a huge comfort and saving grace when I suddenly lost my dad a few years back. I still get upset thinking about how much I miss them and the hole they left behind. Like you, I knew it was time for both. Their quality of life had diminished and it was clear both their bodies had had enough. Grief is the price we pay for love.

I have since adopted two more older rescue kittens (and already have another middle-aged cat), which has been absolutely brilliant. They're such different little characters and have brought much laughter and joy back. My other cat has also really benefitted from the newbies. It's not for everyone to get another pet so soon, but I personally find it really helps me to heal and giving a rescue cat a new start is a no-brainer for me.

    Be easy on yourself xx
  • It's never easy, be kind to yourself and allow time to grieve.

These furbabies are a big part of our lives and fond memories will overtake what you're going through at the moment.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Today you did the bravest thing, today you set me free.
Thank you for showing me the ultimate dignity.
I'm sorry that my leaving has broken your kind heart.
But we knew this day would come, the day we had to part.
Don't think I did not hear every last word you said.
Don't think I did not feel, your trembling hand touch my head.
Today you did the bravest thing, today you set me free.
Thank you for a wonderful life, thank you for loving me. ❤
