  • I realised that sounded like i was bragging, oooh look at me i'm off for xmas. The last 5 years i have worked in NHS and worked xmas and new year, now i'm at an oil company the luxury of not working is great!

I feel like going on a real spend-a-thon today, not sure why but maybe because A) it's the wrong time of the month, B) OH and the kids are off all week and the next 2 for xmas, and I have still got 6 shifts to work before I have any annual leave C) the shops seem really enticing and need to buy a voucher for my brother so have an excuse. And the computer chair we got from IKEA is broken - only had it 2 months so needs to be returned, wish there was an IKEA nearer to us that's a bloomin long journey.

I'd love to work Xmas again.

I had 5 blissful years of finishing at 7am on the 25th, having a fry-up and then going to bed til 7pm when I'd get up for work.

I didn't see it as bragging. The last company I worked for closed over christmas and New Year.... it was lovely!

But here the idea is why should head office close over christmas and new year when the warehouses have to work... I completely agree, but surely we could have half days on the eves!!!

  • another wierd thing happening here is that there are tons of freebies on the go, allbeit they are for the bosses not the plebs, that never happenned in the NHS!!!

Well i know the nurses on the wards get some chocs n stuff (not enough in my opininon!!) but the admin staff never got anything cause you aren't really allowed to take freebies from people.

My boss got an Ipod nano delivered yesterday with a Xmas card! I was gobsmacked!

One of the companies we deal with sent thru cards and gift sets with a bottle of moet/bottle of malt/bottle of shiraz last week, there was one for each of us in the office. Trouble was when i went thru with mine, my boss hadn't got one!! I felt so bad i gave him my whiskey and red wine - as really i wouldn't drink them, and made out like maybe we were meant to share one in our office. how caring and sharing am i! My one and only freebie and i give more than half of it away. Mind you, he would do the same for me, i like to think!
