Changing from Economy 7 to Standard rate tariff

I have had economy 7 for many years. However, I am considering changing from storage heaters to underfloor heating therefore I am  contemplating switching from E7 to a standard tariff.
I have a smart meter. I wonder  : -a) Would the energy provider need to change my meter or could it be done remotely? b) I understand that, currently, the storage heaters and the boiler are only getting power during the night tariff rate. If I change to a standard tariff, would it mean I get electricity from the storage heater sockets 24 hours a day as well or are they on a separate circuit from the rest of the property?

  • Meter should be fine and they should be able to set it up so both "peak" and "off-peak" fuse boards are powered 24/7.

Note that standard-rate electrical heating is one of the most expensive ways to heat a property.

As per QrizB's comments, I would think very carefully about moving away from storage heaters to underfloor heating. (Assuming you are talking about electric underfloor heating). Remember also that your hot water will also then need to be heated at the single rate tariff.

As above. Why on earth would you change to a system that will probably double your heating and hot water costs, plus the capital outlay involved? It will also devalue the property.
You don't have a boiler, you have an immersion heater running on E7.
