HSBC switch

I’m thinking of doing a switch, I was with this bank a few years ago, is there anyway to find out, when I closed my previous account?

If you've literally disposed of everything related to the account (statements, correspondence, etc) then you could perhaps cross-refer with your data relating to other banks, in terms of transfers to/from the HSBC one, or check your credit files?  Last resort would be a subject access request to HSBC, or just open a new account and try it anyway....
  • Another way could be to check your credit files - request copies of your reports from Experian, Equifax and TransUnion to see the date the account was reported as closed?
