Tesco CC have eventually moved into the 21st Century :D
Still have to carry the card around though to use as a Clubcard when buying petrol for the 1 point per £1 spend.
Only my Virgin CC lagging behind now.

Wonderful news! Will it still function as a clubcard if I tap it to pay in store, or do I need to scan my fob/app separately if using Google Pay?

I have my Tesco Clubcard on my phone, in both the Tesco Clubcard app and within Google Pay.

At least I can remove my Tesco CC from one of my two Curve slots now

Edit: Tesco CC smoothly and easily added to Google Pay.

Weird I should learn about this change from a forum post, rather than the card provider though

I received an email to advise of the change this afternoon. Maybe it's gone into your spam folder?

Nothing for me either. Sometimes these things are done in batches.

One vaguely interesting but totally unimportant thing - the card image that shows up is the right colour but has slightly different wording "Credit card." rather than "Premium credit. " and the addition of the word 'word' above the Mastercard logo.

So do I but you can't use your phone at pay at pump and a normal clubcard only gives 1 point per £2 :)

That is true. Won't fit in the damn slot 🤷‍♂️

Tesco fuel is not my cheapest option around here anyway, so don't go there (for me). Don't use P@P at any station though due to issue mentioned above

Well, that was a bit unimpressive, tried in 3 different shops and it didn't work.  A few similar posts on Tesco Bank community forum.
edit:  The answer from Tesco is to do a chip and pin transaction and it will unlock the card on Google Wallet.

Hadn't done a C&P transaction or tried to use the card with GW again but last night had an e-mail from Google Wallet stating "We have resolved your payment card issue" without any contact from me so it was obviously a bigger system problem.  Used card with GW today and worked OK.

    Hi,

You are receiving this email because we have noticed that you may have recently had issues using your Mastercard for contactless payments.

We wanted to let you know that the issue has been resolved. You can now continue using your card again.

  • I did a chip & PIN transaction with the physical card one day, then used Google Pay the following day, so cannot say whether it would have worked without digging the card out first or not
