Julian Hodge - bit of a joke at my expense

I recently invested some money in a Julian Hodge Bank 1 year fixed rate bond at 6.9% - great interest rate, now deceased and higher than the renewal at Anglo Irish at 6.75%. I really shouldn't have bothered !!

JH received my application and cheque on 27th November. Intererest was not earned until they had processed my cheque (3rd Dec) and then it had to clear (5th Dec). Assuming I earned interest on the 5th Dec, JH have cost me 8 days interest above postage time , completely eroding the benefit of their higher rate and more.

Further their customer service is rubbish - poor or no response from phone calls/emails. I sent a written complaint first class post on 5th Dec. They are supposed to respond in five working days - needless to say I have had no response.

I will not be using this bank again and would advise others to learn from my experience and stick to banks like the Anglo Irish who pay interest from the day of receipt of your cheque and are a professional outfit.

........except when it comes to The Anglo Irish sending out application forms for their accounts. Two requests for forms in two weeks both ignored so I took my business elswewhere.
  • Odd that - I d/w AngloOirish twice in last 3 months and their response time has been superb. App forms rec'd next day and accounts opened and monies cleared in 3 wkg days.

Seems with most Customer Service functions there's an element of 'luck of the draw' these days - both in telephone and mail services!

Not had a problem with the Anglo Irish and been dealing with them for a few years now but then again I did download the applications off the internet - I guess that some customers, as well as banks are also in the dark ages :-) - sorry couldn't resist.

Who did you use in the end and did they give you interest from the receipt of your cheque ?

And so would I had done If my printer had been working

If a bank can't even be bothered to send out an application form especially after asking twice, then it certainley doesn't deserve my business.

It went to Principality and yes it earnt immediate interest.
