hi, I got married last year and then had to move from Income support to UC.
On income support, due to receiving pip, I recieved SDP as well, but the SDP doesnt seem to have been transferred to UC.
I have left messages on my UC journal but I just get told if i was entitled to it it would have been automatically transferred.
Can anyone offer any help? or info on who I should contact etc?
Many thanks

Link above has info about this,
Send another journal message asking the case manager for your claim to raise a question with their service improvement colleagues about why the transitional protection payment is not included following move from income support to UC. Advise them that you will submit a formal complaint, if you do not receive a response providing a full explanation about entitlement to a transitional payment related to SDP.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1 -
No idea but would the SPD be included if the op no longer qualifies as they are now living with someone?

It may be the case that SDP or any transitional payment related to this is not payable, because they now live with a partner. But the OP does not appear to have received an answer from Universal Credit to confirm exact reasons they do not qualify for any additional amount. The comments I post are personal opinion. Unless the partner has a disability benefit the SDP would have ended on the IS prior to moving to UC.
Can’t see why getting married would create a need to move from IS to UC unless partner was already on UC but that’s a different issue.
Need more detail about the circumstances to explain .
If OP moved to UC while single they would have got SDP element in UC - but it would then have been removed when she got married (even if partner has a disability).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.2 -
SDP is only paid if you live by yourself, or have a partner who also claims a disability benefit.

When you married, your SDP would stop (assuming partner does not claim a qualifying benefit, too).
So, you may not have a SDP to transfer to UC - it would seem.
What you and your husband may be able to do is claim the carers element of UC.
Are you claiming this?

Reply recieved from uc -
i have had a reply reference your SDP query : The customers are not entitled to SDP TP. To be eligible for SDP TP the customers would need to be either of the below: • An already existing couple on legacy where SDP was in payment - both were iro single legacy benefits • Both be iro SDP as single claimants and then make a joint UC claim together or one joins the other in the first AP. Neither of these apply to the claimants so they are not entitled. Not sure entirely what it means tbh, but answer is no, we not entitled.

Which is exactly what you were advised. You're not entitled because when you claimed UC you were living with your partner. When you claimed IS you were living alone.anonmum said:Reply recieved from uc -i have had a reply reference your SDP query : The customers are not entitled to SDP TP.
