Hi,
I have never done video editing before, I I'm fairly tech savvy and just wondered if anyone knows the best video editing software I can use as a newbie that is either free or low cost.
The purpose is to create a mashup of videos/pictures overlayed with music and a few transition effects etc.
I'm looking to do this for a friend who managed to get a video camera working again which has footage from 2003, his dad passed away almost 2 years ago after a long battle with cancer and I'm going to get the videos on to my pc and try and make a video capturing some of the best moments.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Openshot Video Editor. If you have Windows 10 the Photo app has a built-in video editor, or you can use Clipchamp which MS bought in 2021 and is part of WIndows 11 by default (you can add it to 10 via the store)1
