Unlimited data

Options
I’m after an unlimited data sim for a mobile broadband 4g dongle so  I can stream to my phone/tablet.

Are there any genuine UNLIMITED card about or are they limited when you’ve reached a certain limit.

Is this purely personal, not business?

Realistically, how much data per month do you use?
Three claim unlimited bandwidth & speed in the UK
Vodafone claim unlimited but speed varies according to package/cost
EE unfair use limit is 600GB/month
O2 unfair use limit is more than 650GB/month 2x in 6 months

& as always you need to consider network performance where you will use it most.

How much do you need - I've been as high as 400gb in a month with Lebara in my 4g router with no issues, my average is about 200gb, been using it for over 12 months as my only connection (rural area)

    It’s personal use.
Say if I watch Netflix or whatever on my tea breaks I don’t really know how much GB’s it would use for and hour or so a day.

https://help.netflix.com/en/node/87 tells you how much data Netflix uses (on average) - "The Netflix app selects a setting that balances data usage and video quality. You can watch about 4 hours per GB of data."

So on that basis for an hour an day, that's roughly 250Mbs.  If you do that five days a week 1.25Gb and if you do it on weekdays only (say 23 days a month), that's only 6Gb of data on average you'll use, though I'd budget for 7.5Gb to account for legroom.

Of course if you whack it up then 1Gb will last about 20minutes according to the website, but that's easy enough to work out - an hour will be 3Gb, which is 15Gb a week which again at 23 weekdays a month is 69Gb (add some legroom and I'd budget for 75Gb).

Add in all your other data usage and you can see how much you need.

If you've got an unlocked smartphone (or one locked to three) then you can use that as a hotspot (for transmitting wi-fi) for a phone SIM, which will also come with unlimited calls and texts. Get over to https://www.idmobile.co.uk/sim-only-deals today or tomorrow and grab yourself a 1-month SIM to try. It runs on Three's network and at the same speed but with the advantage that you can set a cap for out of bundle charges (mine is set at £0) and also carry forward unused data to the following month - particularly useful if you go for the 100GB at just £10 per month. Once your month is up you can up/downgrade to one more suitable and won't have to serve a month's notice.
