  • I’d be reporting every single place that had refused it, and definitely those that cream off the top by demanding additional fees to deal with transactions too. I’d also try tweeting Martin - try on Monday morning through as he often steps away from social media at weekends, and also contact your MP maybe?

  • @EssexHebridean - yes I wrote to my MP hopefully he will respond soon, unfortunetely I don’t have tweeter but wrote to this website.
I would have to do some mental gymnastics and spend some time searching for exact address and names of all the shops I’ve been to but it might be worth. I reported my two locals when I tried on Friday - let’s see if they get back to me.

OP,if you don't mind my asking, what reason did the Post Office give for refusing the voucher?.
Don't know much about the Paypoint malarkey but based on my limited experience of using it years ago sound like nothing has changed, certainly not for the better.
Any supposed Paypoint outlet refusing these vouchers should be removed from the scheme, imho, although it's quite possible that Paypoint themselves are the route cause of whatever the problems are.
The post office worker said that they actually do paypoint but not for that particular voucher.... he said that that particular  voucher is not to be used in post offices only corner shops! But the advice that I had from some corner shops was exactly the other way round.
When you read Martin's article the post office worker is correct. It says

It's also worth noting that Post Office and PayPoint vouchers are NOT interchangeable – your voucher will say where you can redeem it.

My voucher have the paypoint logo - the shopkeepers with the logo refused and re-directed me to the post office

It is actually a humiliating experience and this voucher is not even charity… everyone is receiving the help

Using the PayPoint service is supposed to be free, they have a complaints thing on their site:

Paypoint is free but for cash only.

in my area only co op will let me use card to top up prepayment. Other newsagents say they are not allowed to charge for using a card but they do actually get charged that way.

I used my voucher in a shop with a post office, they took cash out of the post office till and took it to the newsagent counter to add to the key.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

ive just checked the pay point website for our postcode and coop and asda (but not the big tesco just outside town) are both showing as pay point locations. i dont know if thats easier but i would hope staff at a national supermarket would be trained on how to use the voutchers maybe more than a local corner shop?

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

when I checked my postcode all the shops were corner shops - and my local accepted my 1st voucher… so he knows how it works

I will keep trying. Will keep the topup card in my bag wherever I go

oh also suggests that maybe spar (or whatever brand of corner shop has said no) have an email address you could complain to? there probably a franchise but maybe as the franchise owner they would have a reason to give the local shop a nudge (no one wants bad publicity like that)

no idea if it would help at all but trying to think of options for you :)
