Motorola XT1541 re google verifying your account

I am single pensioner and have been given a Motorola XT1541Smart phone which has apparantly been unblocked,, The previous owner has sadly passed away. and her google e mail address is unknown. Also her last  known phone number. has not been accepted. i have inserted my O2 sim card but i cannot get passed the screen saying the device has been reset .To continue sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device. As the information is unknown how can i progress. It has accepted my WIfi Sky code so that part is activated, Any help as to how to get the phone working will be grearly appreciated. Thank you

A full reset of the phone will remove all trace of any existing Google account (and any other accounts). Have you done this?

it states on the message on  the phonethat is has been reset. how can i check or reset again as i have no idea where to start as i cannot get beyond the initial screen. thank you

Sorry I have truied sliding my fingers from the top of screen as suggested but nothing happens the screen. i cannot gert past the message stating To continue sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device. Sio Iam stuck any further suggestions as what I can try anyone please Thanhk you

You could try a hard reset, here's a video how-to. Ignore all the stuff about lock patterns at the beginning, you are only interested in the bit after the phone has been turned off.
