How do I get it back?
I tried downloading from MS Store but it won't let me even though it shows 'Install' but clicking on it does nothing.
TIA

Have you tried typing "notepad" into the Taskbar 'Type here to search' box?1

Here you go: https://www.itechguides.com/how-to-reinstall-notepad-in-windows-10/
Remove and re-add, may only be the shortcut that has disappeared1 -
i believe notepad.exe is located in c:/windows/system321

Just type notepad in the run box it will open. Right click windows logo on task bar run will be near the bottom.1

For some inexplicable reason I've lost the search from the taskbar now.
I can call up Notepad from a search (which isn't on the taskbar) but how do I now get it pinned to taskbar plus now 'search'.
Edited: I just managed to pin Notepad to taskbar so my question now refers to the search option.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

While you are there, under search is "news and interests", turn that off and all the clickbait goes away from the taskbarI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
