    Is the IMP kWh reading a combination of the IMP R01 and IMP R02? Though I have no R02 reading on my meter as far as I can see.
    Yes, ther IMP on button 9 is the sum of the (potentially four) separate IMP R0x readings on button 6.
    I assume you've found this video by now?
    <snip>

    Believe it or not, the total IMP can be the sum of fifteen registers on that particular meter, just like buttons secure don't do things by halves!

    Not that it changes the end result since almost all of them will only ever read 0, just a bit of trivia.

    I dont trust First Utility aka Shell at all to get it right, as I doubt they are even aware og the old BG free weekend tariff  .They are using the register with the highest units on it for their own reasons but historically at least from when the meter was commissioned its been read on the standard industry single rate button 9 as all single rate customers and meter readers used
    I think I would risk an Ombudsman decision on this case
    In my case, they are using the R01 figure, which is lower than the IMP figure.

    @[Deleted User], I have provided Shell pictures (and a video which they are 'unable to view'; it seems they can't view YouTube videos) of the readings. The serial number matches the one on the bills. I'll just need to keep a a record of readings and bills so that I don't get hit with an erroneous bill from another supplier who chooses to use the IMP figure.

    One inherent weakness of smart metering is that the meters were never intended to be read manually. Errors occur because consumers provide such things as the kWh reading for gas when it should be volume. Suppliers and consumers also cannot get out if the habit of using terms like day and night.

    You might not be aware that Octopus has been using 30 minute usage for billing rather than index readings. Index readings are on not shown on bills for their time-of-use tariffs. Three months ago, Octopus was setting up two registers (the needed to do this to show the correct tariffs in the meters) but they have since reverted back to a single register when my tariff changed. Suppliers are not required to send tariff data to meters when the consumer is on an experimental tariff. My billing is spot on and easily checked even without index readings.
