Also in another room overnight, it makes a low noise but not loud enough to travel to us in the other room.1

I live in Orkney where we often have day after day where it's too windy, too damp, or too both, to hang washing outside. Our heating is needing replaced, and only some of it works, so that doesn't really dry clothes much either. As a result we use the dehumidifier a fair bit (ours also has the clothes drying option, even though that wasn't why we initially purchesed it), positioned just behind the wettest/heaviest things on the airer. Once they are semi-dry they are often finished off in the airing cupboard (not very big but we can fit a few things in there on hangers). Of course I put things outside if I get a chance, but those have not been very often recently!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Yesterday I was able to get my washing almost dry outside. I then hung it from ceiling rails to finish off in a cool house of 14 degrees.
