Saving ITV local news from their website?

my baby daughter featured on our local news today, I know it will only be there for seven days so i want to save it and also share it on her website.

I have saved it via Realplayer but is an .ivr file which most sharing sites wont accept.

Any help gratefully received!!

  • Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • Contact ITV and I reckon they'll help you out.

The scots version STV helped get me a video recently. I can't remember what department I called but if you get the wrong one they can always redirect you.

IVR is a new file format, AFAIK it can't be converted unless you record it to a different format using software like albertross linked to. The quality will suffer more using that method though, whereas you my get lucky and get a DVD like I did.

I'm pretty sure the video will have been windows media player wmp format to begin with so if you give me the link I could have a go at getting it for you.

There are 2 different types of TV, (1) TV via a TV card/usb and (2) TV via streaming media.

Camtasia as albertross said. camtasia will capture both (1) and (2) and there are many other screen capture items out there too. Just make sure what you use captures the sound as well or get another package to capture the sound.

there might be some s/w with your (1) to let you record

for a (2) there is something call tunebite http://tunebite.com/en/remove_drm/index.html that will legally remove DRM copy protection too
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

  • Here's the contact details for the moment. I reckon they'd help you out:

For enquiries about any ITV programme, please contact the ITV Duty Office in the first instance:
Duty Office, Gas Street, Birmingham B1 2JT
    E-mail: dutyoffice@itv.com
    Tel: 0844 88 14150
    Fax: 0844 88 14198

I'll give it a go , really I'm hoping that the video will be saved in temporary internet files and I can just copy it from there. There's a good chance I won't be able to get it though and that's why I recommend contacting them.

EDIT: Cool, you have a miracle baby!! Well I see why you'd love to keep that video, so if all else fails I'll record the screen, I've always meant to try out that kind of software anyway. You'll have it by thursday at the latest. ;)

  • Hi again, well I tried three different screen recording programs but they all recorded black. To get it working I'd need to look into it further which I don't have the time for at the moment but I'm sure someone else will be able to do it for you.

So if someone else has screen recording working on their PC could they have a go?? - Here's a link to the IVR (internet video recording) file, and the latest realplayer beta to play it:

Good luck hope you get it sorted. ;)

SNAP, my daughter featured in a local news and I went to their website, emailed someone requesting a copy, they did two things, they emailed a copy and sent a disk through the post..............all free.

In the meantime you could run in on your computer, video the screen with your mobile, then bluetooth it across and save it.
